To enable people to do something
behind their capabilities

Vision

What I love to see, is someone trying to master a skill. When learning to juggle, there is almost no other point than just being able to prove to yourself you can juggle 3 balls. There is a certain honesty in a skill, it can be taught by the best teacher and you can have all the talent of world, but still everyone has to practice to become better.

In current western society, I see an increase of the need for this kind of honesty in for example companies, products and people. In the past you could be the best of town, but now you are compared to the entire world by social media. It became easier to watch from a side-line, instead of trying something yourself.

I want to enable people to do something that they thought was behind their capabilities. Although people dream enough, often they lack the right skills or opportunities to realise it. As a designer I can provide tools looking from a bottom up perspective. Triggering people that are doubting and evoke social interactions with my products to set a first step to gain the appropriate skills.

Future Job

Exploring the new

In the future I see myself as a designer that works freelance in between projects. Some big returning projects and some small new projects during the week. In every project I want to do something new, because this way I keep myself challenged, motivated and happy. This means I need to have a good base of different skills so I can build on them. Within my master I can broaden and deepen my skillset so I can tackle every project. My focus will be on the community aspect, adding to a team who is working on a product or service. With an critical eye I can guide the team in the right direction and fill in the gaps that the team misses. In between I can do small projects by my own, showcasing what kind of projects I want to do and broadening my skills at the same time.

An interesting article about what we can expect from our job oppurtunities as a designer can be read here: The Most Important Design Jobs Of The Future. If I could pick one of these, I would see myself as Chief Design Officer, Conductor or Fusionist. These are all jobs that require a broad variety of skills which I love to use.
