Dutch Juggling Convention
Registration

Reflection

In order for us to make it easier to estimate the amount of participants that are coming, we made an online registration-system. I build this registration system and made it user-friendly based on my website-development skills. After a month I had some problems with bots that automatically filled in the registration form. This caused some problems but I installed a honeypot. This means that when this invisible field for visitors is filled in by a bot, it cancels the registration. After that I didn’t had any problems with the registrations. I can use the registration form for coming conventions and plan to make it easier to maintain for the organisation of next year. New this year was that you could already pre-register if you didn’t came the full convention, but only a few days. This resulted in 100 more pre-registrations than ever. Normally around 180 people register but at our convention 280 people did. This means it was easier for us to estimate how much money we could spend, since we knew how much money we would receive. Making the registration increased my PHP and jQuery knowledge which I can use for my company.
