Identity

For me reaching my own goals is my drive. I always seek for new harder challenges and I like to see my own improvement in certain skills or amount of knowledge.

I care a lot about the welfare of other people, that’s why it’s also my goal to help people find their goals. I’m an adopting and observing person, but have strong opinions. In a subtle way I can implement my ideas in a project by convincing the group that’s also their idea. Maybe also because I know what people actually mean when they explain their idea, I’m a good listener.

My way of working is organic, I take opportunities and give space for these opportunities to happen. When I find a certain problem along the process I see it as a challenge and find the right sources to solve it. I don’t have a strict plan, but observe and reflect on what is happening and what the best path is along the process, not being afraid to go a step back in the process.

Identity Development

Already past semester I was aware that I had a strong identity, the problem was that I didn’t know what it was. After a lot of talking with my coach I came closer to my true identity. Because of the overview that my coach had, she could ask relevant question so I could discover more about myself.

Also my coach noticed that my past showcase wasn’t a personal showcase. It was a professional website that I’m used to make because of my work as a graphic and web designer. She gave me an assignment to discover my own visual identity. In the references you can find my search to my visual identity.

This assignment also forced me to find 3 keywords that best describe my identity. I’ve talked a lot with my parents and girlfriend to find these core keywords. These three words don’t seem to be related to each other, so I tried to find a metaphor for the coherence of these word. Here below you can find my story related to my identity were I used this metaphor.

Inspiration

I get my inspiration from all kinds of places. For example from people that are passionate about what they do. I compare their visions to get an overview on how to become successful at what you’re doing. I especially get inspiration and motivation from friends and family that are close to me and have this passion.

Even videos from jugglers can really inspire me because they are doing what they love to do. I also surround myself with books full of design inspiration, browse website with new developments in products design and watch interesting documentaries. As you can see a wide variety of inspiration that acts as a fuel for my work drive.
