Reflection

Organising juggling convention is not something that is new for me. However the Dutch Juggling Convention is the largest convention in the Netherlands with 300 till 500 jugglers which is 3 times bigger than the convention I’m used to organise. I’m the initiator of this convention and started to find a solid team with different disciplines. Already for over a year I’ve been working on organising this convention but everything is coming together now. The organisation of this convention is something that is strongly related to my vision and identity.

Of course I developed the whole graphic and web design and just like organising a party, you want as much people as possible to come! I tried to get visitors to the website by making a juggle test. This would be the first contact the visitors would have. Later on I will edit a video of all the famous jugglers that will come to the convention to get “Youtube” generation of jugglers excited. This will make it also very attractive for international jugglers to come. The result of all this effort will be at the end of May, when the convention takes place.

I also keep track of the budget and react when certain cost post are bigger than others. We’ve had a lot of problem getting money from our local authority which lead to big problems. Also the cultural funds weren’t giving anything. I’ve spent a lot of time to answer societal correct questions for these cultural funds together with my brother. I’m not that good at writing , so I would tell my brother what he had to write. After literally a dozen of funds, I am now better capable of explaining my ideas in a societal correct way.
