Being perfectionistic I already knew that it was imported in order to leave professional impression, but in this assignment it was brought to a new standard. It helped us analyse objects, see the base form in geometric shapes in order to remember them and reconstruct but most importunately be critical about your own work. I was not able to complete the complete assignment but I think I got the mean learning points.
It started with some sketches, but since I already followed the assignment Sketching I didn’t learn so much new. More detailed elements like using cool grey for cool colours and warm grey for warm colours. Still it was good to get a small recap of the theory.
What has taught me the most was to try to copy a power socket as accurate as possible. I choice the assignment because I thought that I wasn’t good at creating high quality prototypes. Trying to recreate helped to make a finished real looking product. I general the most important thing is to sand a lot, be patient, make a plan and do a good paint job. The assigners gave us some tips in order to avoid certain pitfalls that where regularly made. By peer review we had to make an order of the different power sockets from best to worst. All the hard work paid off because my fellow students put me in first place! The assignment has given me the confidence that I also can me high quality prototypes.
This assignment is not finished since the limited amount of time to finish my final bachelor project. Already done an assignment in my Q1 I decided to not finish the last 2 assignments within this assignment. Still it has helped me a lot and I got the base principles of the assignment.
