In my spare time I run a graphic design and website development company. I help mainly starting small business to shape their identity. Last semester I had the goal to spend less time on this because it became routine work. I now have an employee that creates the websites for me after my design. The teamwork is going very well and he understands my expectations. I’m guiding and giving instructions to him and try to be as clear as possible. It is a nice opportunity to gain experience in having employees working for you because I also want to start a business of my own in the future.
Because of the lack of time it was hard this semester to keep my customers happy. Sometimes I didn’t had the time to life up to their expectations. I tried to communicate this the best as possible with my customers and luckily, they understood this. It was hard to cope with the feelings that I couldn’t deliver the quality I was used to give. Also I had to reject some new customers, because I wouldn’t have enough time for them and my current customers are more important to me than new customers.
So in general it as an interesting semester. With my new employee I could still continue my business and only had to guide certain assignments in order to keep my customers happy. Now I’m looking for also designers that could fulfil easy graphic design tasks in order for me to grow as a company.
