- Do more product design product in your spare time!
In the Christmas holiday I spend my spare time creating something I thought was fun to do. I still had a LED strip from the Design Basic Course. In the hall of my parents’ house we have glass blocks at the front of the house. If put a LED at the back of this block, the whole block would light up and could be seen from outside. Since there was a whole wall with these blocks, I could create a 5x5 field of LEDS in which I could program small images or moving text. It would say “Happy New Year” with some animated fireworks afterwards. It took 2 days of soldering together with my girlfriend and 3 days of programming by my own.
This was something which is closely related to my vision and identity. Hopefully I inspired some people or just made them smile, that would mean the world to me. I would like to continue to work on this kind of small side projects. I keeps me fresh and it helps me to develop better as an designer.
